History

Village was evacuated in 1980 as it was in the watershed area for the construction of the Starina Reservoir.  One building and the cemetery remain.  This village is now a part of the Poloniny National Park.

 

1588 Zwyela, Zwela, 1635 Zuella, 1773 Zudla, 1808 Zujala. The first mention of the village is in 1588. It belonged to Humenné town, and then to Szirmay family. During the History, its inhabitants were occupied in agriculture and as woodmen.    Source: Roberto Cannoni, Italy
