I have received many responses regarding my family heritage from this site. Thank you! I have been told by a person living 1 mile from Velka Polana that there are still members of the Pitlanič family living in the region. My ancestors' immigration ship manifests lists Nagy Polana as their place of origin. There are also other ship manifests which identify Ruthenian as the language spoken at home. I hope to discover and to communicate with other Pitlaničs (Pitlanish, Petlanich, Pitlanich) across the globe. (Unfortunately, I only speak & read English).
